Product notes

The perfect introduction to Hugel Family wines: GENTIL "HUGEL" revives an Alsatian tradition where blends of noble grape varieties were called "Gentil" combining the smooth and spicy side of Gewurztraminer, the body of Pinot Gris, the finesse of Riesling, the fruitiness of Muscat and the thirst-quenching side of Sylvaner.

Production notes

A single racking and light filtration before bottling in spring then aging in bottles in our cellars.

Tasting notes

Light color with green reflections with a beautiful crystalline shine. Fresh bouquet, aromas of green apples, pear, lychee, passion fruit and rose. On the palate, dry, tender, melted and harmonious with an elegant finish. Pairings with oysters, sushi, marinated fish and spicy cuisines.

James Suckling, November 2023 (Vintage 2022)

Very fresh with notes of sliced pears, lemons and white peaches plus a touch of white pepper spice and chamomile. It’s medium- to full-bodied with bright acidity and a phenolic touch. Dry. Blend of 33% gewurztraminer, 30% sylvaner, 17% pinot blanc, 7% riesling, 7% pinot gris and 6% muscat. Drink now.

James Suckling, August 2019 (Vintage 2018)

A very clean and citrusy white that shows green apples and lemons. Medium-bodied and very dry, this is sleek, tangy and fruity on the finish. Drink now.

James Suckling, November 2020 (Vintage 2019)

Such a friendly and convivial blended dry white, this has so much upfront, floral appeal (orange blossom and roses), juicy fruit, generous body and just enough acidity to keep it bright at the finish. Drink now.

Anne Krebiehl, May 2020 (Vintage 2018)

Slight notes of ripe yellow pear appear shyly on the nose of this wine. The palate comes in with freshness supported by very slight spritz. Lemony brightness dominates the dry finish of this slender wine.
