Product notes

This wine comes from our plots in the place called ‘Conflans’, one of the best terroirs in the appellation. The name of the vintage comes from the draft animals that worked on these plots.

Production notes

Manual with sorting by plot into small 12kg crates. After settling, fermentation in concrete eggs and oak barrels including 5% new wood. Aged on fine lees in the same containers.

Tasting notes

Pretty crystal clear pale yellow color. Fruity nose exuding aromas of white-fleshed fruits, pear and vine peach. Lively attack but a beautiful roundness in the mid-palate which is expressed with floral notes of acacia type. The finish ends with mineral notes of chalk powder. Pairings with white meats and cheeses.

Joe Czerwinski, 2018 (Vintage 2017)

A barrel-fermented blend of 50% Marsanne and 50% Roussanne, the 2017 Crozes Hermitage Domaine Mule Blanche is a terrific example of what those varieties can do when they're grown in the right location and vinified with care. Gentle toasted grain scents waft from the glass, along with notes of marshmallow and melon. It's full-bodied and richly textured, with notes of pineapple, crème brûlée and citrus on the long finish.

This has wonderful vitality for a white Rhone. Stacks of crisp pear and wild flower aromas plus notes of pomelo and yellow grapefruit. Lots of stony freshness on the well-structured, medium-bodied palate. Long focused finish. A 50/50 cuvee of marsanne and roussanne, matured in wood, but with no new oak. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Limpid straw-yellow. Ripe orchard and pit fruits on the mineral-tinged nose, along with an orange pith nuance that adds lift and focus. Concentrated, focused and gently sweet, offering juicy white peach, pear and honeysuckle flavors that become spicier as the wine opens up. A spicy quality emerges slowly on the sharply focused, tenacious finish, which echoes the mineral and floral notes.

Nicolas Greinacher, October 2023 (Vintage 2021)

The 2021 Crozes-Hermitage Blanc Domaine Mule Blanche blends 55% Marsanne with 45% Roussanne. Swirling the glass gradually reveals lemon flesh, green apple, ripe pear and discrete cedar aromatics. Hitting the palate with modest yet sufficient flavor concentration and medium-bodied at most, the elegant 2021 concludes with brightness on the crpt finale.

Joe Czerwinski, May 2024 (Vintage 2021)

A blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, the 2021 Crozes Hermitage Mule Blanche (Domaine) features scents of crushed stone, citrus zest and white peaches. It's medium-bodied, tight, taut and lacks generosity in the mouth, but it offers bright, citrusy notes from start to finish.
