Serralunga d'Alba. Mid to deep ruby with orange tinges. Deep, savoury, ripe red-fruit nose with meaty and peppery notes and hints of old leather. Rather captivating and just opening up. Compact red-fruit palate with lots of lush acidity followed by bags and bags of chewy tannins. Lots of juice but still rather austere and tannic on the finish. A little rustic but further bottle age no doubt will give it a bit of a polish. (WS)
