Product notes

Bairrada is an exceptional geographic area with a unique climate and a special terroir, where the clay-limestone soils are dominant. It’s a region of predominantly intensive agriculture, with a variety of crops on small parcels of land, where the vine occupies a pride of place. The climate is Mediterranean-Atlantic, with an annual rainfall between 900 mm and 1,100 mm. The region is mostly flat, with vineyards seldom situated at altitudes higher than 120 meters.

Production notes

Complete de-stemming, alcoholic fermentation at 28 ° C and gentle and prolonged maceration. Aging of 9 months in French oak barrels and 3 months in bottle before marketing.

Tasting notes

Intense ruby color. On the nose, a predominance of ripe red fruits with notes of coffee, toasted, mocha revealing freshness and complexity. The mouth is ample offering volume and firm and persistent tannins. Pairings with tagines, meats on the BBQ and cold cuts.

Roger Voss, April 2022 (Vintage 2017)

Baga is here in all its mature glory, with a fine backdrop of dusty tannins set against jammy black fruits. Spice and vanilla give complexity, followed by a juicy aftertaste. Drink the wine now.

Roger Voss, July 2020 (Vintage 2015)

The typical tannins of Baga are present in this mature wine. They are balanced by the ripe blackberry fruits that give the wine weight and richness. The wine's density and mature fruit demand a powerful meat dish
