Mix of an international grape variety such as Nero d'Avola, an indigenous Sicilian grape, and international grape varieties such as Petit Verdot, Narì, Rosso DOC Sicilia is a wine of great elegance, which shines with innate balance. conferred by its silky tannins, supported by a pleasant acidity and an enveloping sweetness. Aging in oak barrels brings precious spicy notes to the glass, giving emotions to the palate of those who taste it.

Under $16

Sicilia IGT 2019, Nari, Nero d’Avola / Petit Verdot, Firriato, Italy red, $9.70, SAQ # 11905809. I’m still shocked at the price of this wine, and it remains one of the best deals at the SAQ. Nero d’avola and petit verdot, grown in the heat of Sicily. Dark fruit, mouth-coating tannin, no hocus-pocus with fake wood notes and no excess residual sugar. This is one of those unicorn wines that tastes well above what the price suggests. Grape varieties: nero d’avola, petit verdot. Residual sugar: 2.1 g/L. Serve at: 16 C. Drink now. Food pairing ideas: rib roast, pepper steak.
