Product notes

Remarkable blend of Chablis 1er Cru located on the right and left banks of the Serein. South-east and south-west exposure. Left Bank: Beauroy, Cote de Léchet, Les Lys, Vaillons and Montmains. Right Bank: Fourneaux, Vaulorent and Fourchaume.

Production notes

Static cold settling before the start of fermentation. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in vats and barrels. Aging for around 12 months on fine lees, in vats and barrels.

Tasting notes

Pale gold color, limpid and brilliant wine. Aromas of a mineral touch and sweet spices. The palate offers a nice mineral note, elegant and deep with a lingering finish and persistence of white fruits. Pairings with fish terrine, scallops, veal rib and goat cheese.

NM, September 2022 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Grande Cuvée, a blend of different Premier Crus, has quite a punchy, pepper bouquet with admirable saline qualities. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, a palpable sense of energy with good depth on the finish. This is worth seeking out from La Chablisenne's wide range.

James Suckling, August 2019 (Vintage 2017)

A very attractive and fresh array of ripe lime and lemon citrus aromas here leading to a palate that has a very fleshy, supple feel with clotted cream, citrus and yellow peach to close.

William Kelley, August 2019 (Vintage 2017)

Aromas of crisp green apple, white flowers, orange rind, oyster shell and smoke introduce the 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Grande Cuvée, a blend of lesser-known premier crus that are vinified together. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, delicately textural and fleshy, with a supple, open-knit core, an attractively complete profile and a pure finish. It's an accessible, giving entry to La Chablisienne's range of premiers crus.

Neal Martin, September 2020 (Vintage 2018)

The 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Grand Cuvée (perhaps a slightly confusing name) has a pungent nose of white peach and nectarine, just a touch of reduction blurring the edges. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and lively, leading to a nimble citrus finish with orange peel on the aftertaste. Enjoy this over the next 6–8 years.

Allen Meadows, October 2022 (Vintage 2021)

This is aromatically similar to the Vénérables but with even better Chablis character and in particular, mineral reduction. I like the mid-palate density to the rich, delicious and vibrant medium-weight flavors that possess a generous mouthfeel while displaying good length on the moderately dry bitter lemon-inflected finale.

Allen Meadows, November 2021 (Vintage 2020)

An equally cool mix features notes of green fruit, oyster shell, iodine and citrus zest. There is once again very good richness to the very generously proportioned flavors that manage to maintain focus on the clean and dry if slightly fruity finale. This is perfectly good but not really distinguished. *Outstanding, Top Value!*

Allen Meadows, October 2020 (Vintage 2019)

Once again there is very good Chablis character to the vaguely exotic and ripe mix of both white and yellow orchard fruit that includes hints of peach, passion fruit and tidal pool. The succulent and generous medium-bodied flavors possess very good underlying tension along with fine richness, all wrapped in a nicely mineral-suffused, clean and dry finish.
