About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. By developing the wine trade in the markets of northern Europe, he was already contributing to the reputation of Burgundy wines at the time. Product notes

The Premier Cru Blagny is located on the hillside, it is very sunny. The soil is limestone, marly, ideal for the Chardonnay grape variety. This wine is very mineral, it has a lot of character and a certain consistency from one vintage to the next.

Production notes

The harvest is manual in small crates and the grapes are fermented in the barrels of our cooperage, a third of which are new. Aging lasts about 15 months on fine lees before bottling.

Tasting notes

Bright and sustained yellow color. Aromatic in its youth offering aromas of white flowers, apples and hazelnuts, it will evolve over time to present more complex notes of fine ripe fruit, vanilla, with mineral touches and a substantial finish. Pairings with sweetbreads, lobster and egg meurette.

Tank sample. Textured with a bit of a green streak. Fresher than many Jadot whites.

The 2016 Meursault Blagny has a clean and fresh nose of green apple, pear and light oyster shell aromas that are nicely defined The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, good tension here plus there is ample weight and concentration on the lightly honeyed, spicy finish. This is one of my favorite Meursaults from Louis Jadot in 2016.

Julia Harding, January 2018 (Vintage 2016)

Cask sample. Spiced citrus and the whole has more tension than the Tillets. Clever balance that swings between intense freshness and a depth and richness on the palate, like a pendulum that has a balance at the heart.

Neal Martin, December 2016 (Vintage 2015)

The 2015 Meursault Blagny has an unapologetically tropical-driven bouquet with pineapple and mango to the fore, a generous dab of honey ramming home the point. The palate is balanced with good acidity, quite linear and feels just a little muted on the finish, as if it wants to leave the aromatics to do all the talking. Give it 2-3 years in bottle.
