Product notes

Pebble soil with clay soils. This wine takes its name from the 45th parallel north which passes 2 km south of the cellars. This cuvée represents the House's commitment to organic viticulture.

Production notes

Mourvèdres and Grenaches are fermented together. The Syrah is vinified separately for 3 weeks. The 9-month aging is in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting notes

Ripe red fruits, good fullness, present but fine tannins, menthol notes, signature of the Syrah in the blend. Lamb chops, duck confit, braised meats and pizzas.

A medium-bodied red with plum, spice and hints of cedar on the nose and palate. Round tannins and a savory finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.

Georgina Hindle, (Vintage 2018)

Deep red cherry and spiced berry notes on the nose. This has a nice mouthfeel where the soft tannins subtly coat the mouth. There's spice and soft, chewy, jammy fruit on the palate. It's not overly layered but it's balanced and enjoyable packing a punch in terms of fruit flavour but doesn't feel heavy on the palate.

Joe Czerwinski, May 2021 (Vintage 2019)

A rather chunky, muscular effort this vintage, the 2019 Cotes du Rhone Parallele 45 looks to be one of the better recent examples of this cuvée. Black cherries and plums combine with notes of raspberries and cranberries to create a balanced profile in this medium to full-bodied wine. Hints of garrigue and licorice sneak in on the softly dusty finish, giving this otherwise fruity wine some savory appeal. Drink it on release and over the next several years.
