Product notes

The 2012 vintage was one of the fastest harvested vintages at LA SERGUE (September 21-25). The vintage opened slowly from the summer of 2013, and has since developed a beautiful complexity. The beautiful acidity and the tension brought by the aging in barrels (50% new wood) augur a LA SERGUE consistent in its style and complex on the aromatic level.

Production notes

Each plot is vinified separately using the most modern techniques, but with respect for the pure Bordeaux tradition. 16 months in oak barrels (1/2 new and 1/2 of a wine) in an underground cellar, specially designed and ideal for maturation. 14,555 bottles in 2012.

Tasting notes

Very intense color, almost black. Very characteristic nose of SERGA, blackberry, blackcurrant, peony, bourbon vanilla and even old rum. The attack on the palate is firm without more, the tannin is fresh and supple. Pair with a Bordeaux flank steak, fricassee of mushrooms and Comté or tomme cheeses.

James Suckling, January 2019 (Vintage 2016)

Attractive ripe dark berries here with a wealth of flesh and ripe tannins on offer in the mouth. The palate has juicy resolve and finishes with plush but focused style. Drink from 2020.

Bettane & Desseauve

(Vintage 2012)

Jancis Robinson

15,5 / 20 Points

Jancis Robinson, April 2017 (Vintage 2016)

Blueish purple. Very dry tannins on the end. Pretty severe. Is this ambition or an ill-conceived desire to make a Lalande-de-Pomerol in the mould of Vieux Château Certan?
