About this winery

A journey born millions ago and honed by 10 generations of winemakers, Clos Henri is home to extraordinary, organic Marlborough wines. Nestled in the foothills of the Wairau Valley, carved by powerful glacial and tectonic forces, the Clos Henri Estate sits upon some of the Marlborough’s most fascinating soils. Product notes

Our new Estate Range replaces the Petit Clos – showing vivacity, concentration and brightness, the Estate wines are crafted from both our glacial stones and windblown clay terroirs. Rich in its glacial lands, the estate has one of the most varied terroirs in the Marlborough Valley. Marked by three distinct geological periods, the soil is made up of layers of clay.

Production notes

The Clos Henri Pinot Noir 2019 begins its fermentation in stainless steel tanks before being aged in French oak barrels of 7,500 liters for 11 months.

Tasting notes

Garnet red color. Floral aromas of candied cherries, mint and strawberries. Silky on the palate with additional flavors of red summer fruits. Notes of blood oranges and plums. The finish is crisp and fragrant. Pairings with white meats and Lamb

Christina Pickard, (Vintage 2022)

There's a slightly funky, natty vibe to this drink-now Pinot from biodynamic champion Clos Henri. A few good swirls in the glass allow room for the ripe strawberry, red currant and floral notes to shine amid the more vegetal, earthy ones like asparagus fronds and truffle. The palate is supple and fruity with al dente freshness and ripe—even juicy—tannins.

James Suckling, (Vintage 2019)

Aromas of violet, rose, red cherries and rosemary stem. Medium-bodied with silky tannins. Succulent and juicy, with a solid core of rounded red fruit. Oolong comes through. Lovely tension. Structured to age nicely

March 2024 (Vintage 2022)

A straightforward wine with dried flower, fresh strawberry and cherry character. Medium-bodied with a delicate finish. A light pinot for current drinking. Drink now. Screw cap.
