Product notes

The climates Au Bas de Combe and Aux Barrières make up our Nuits-Saint-Georges Village. Located at the northern end of Nuits, before the other climates of the Vosne-Romanée appellation, the clay-limestone soil is predominantly clayey.

Production notes

The grapes are harvested and the harvest is sorted manually. Before alcoholic fermentation, a pre-fermentation cold maceration lasting 4 to 6 days helps to extract the phenolic compounds. The 15-day maceration with punching down without pumping over is carried out. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts. After maceration, press wine and free-run wine are separated and aged separately. 15 months including 30% new barrels.

Tasting notes

Dark ruby garnet color. The nose develops spicy notes, black fruits and leather. The wine has a nice structure and chewiness. We find aromas of black fruits. The tannins are long and present. Pair with lamb, sweetbread and cheese.

May 2021 (Vintage 2018)

A brooding red, this offers aromas of pine, sandalwood, sage, black cherry, black currant and blackberry. It's backed by dense tannins, verging on gritty, yet stays lively and in bounds. Needs time.

Neal Martin, December 2021 (Vintage 2020)

From vines planted between 1937 and 1945, the 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Village offers blackberry, raspberry and light white pepper and clove scents on the nose, a little Morey-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, light grip, quite savory in style and just missing a touch of precision on the finish. Fine.

Allen Meadows, January 2021 (Vintage 2019)

Moderate wood is present on the spicy and distinctly earthy dark berry fruit scented nose. The sleek, delicious and energetic flavors are youthfully austere, firmly structured and compact but not really rustic. This too is a very fine villages level wine.

Outstanding
