Product notes

The climates Les Quartiers de Nuits, Les Hautes Maizières and Les Chalandins make up this 1.05 hectare Vosne-Romanée. Located at the northern end of Vosne-Romanée, on the border with Vougeot. The clay-limestone soil is predominantly clayey. The plot Les Hautes Maizières has a limestone rock with entroques.

Production notes

The grapes are harvested by hand, sorted and they are partially destemmed. (60%). Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts. After maceration, press wine and free-run wine are separated and aged separately. The wine is aged and put in barrels (100% in Burgundy barrels of 228 liters) 18 months, 30% new barrels.

Tasting notes

Ruby color with garnet reflections. The nose develops aromas of black fruits, cassis, blueberries and spicy notes. On the palate, it is dense and rich and the tannins are supple and silky. Pairings with quail with morels, venison and Comté du Jura.

Alistair Cooper, January 2020 (Vintage 2018)

Cask sample. A leathery nose with some sleek sweet dark fruit. The tannins are abundant and firm and need time to tame, the oak is a little present at the moment (at least on this sample) but the fruit is generous and there is enough acidity to support the hefty framework. (AC)

Allen Meadows, January 2021 (Vintage 2019)

There is enough wood to remark upon framing the overtly spicy and ripe aromas of dark cherry and violet that display an interesting hint of orange peel. The plush, round and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors possess fine mid-palate density while offering very good length on the firm, dusty and youthfully austere finale. This is a quality Vosne villages that should reward up to a decade of cellaring.
