Beaune Bressandes 1er Cru Chardonnay
2020
It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. The Beaune vineyard, located between Savigny les Beaune and Pommard. There are no Grands Crus in this town, but 36 Premiers Crus. The Beaune vineyard is almost on a slope and benefits from a wide classification of its climates as 1er crus including "Les Bressandes". Planted 20 years ago, it is located in the northern part of the vineyard, at the top of the coast. It is considered one of the finest premier crus.
The harvest is manual in small boxes and the grapes are fermented in barrels from our cooperage, a third of which are new. Aging lasts approximately 15 months on fine lees before bottling.
Bright and sustained color. Opulent notes of candied pear, wet straw and lemon. The palate is well balanced and leads to a soft and subtle finish. Pairings with zucchini fritters, salmon tartare and chicken yakitori.

See detailed press reviewA notably ripe yet still fresh nose features notes of compote of pear and apple along with hints of petrol and wood toast. The lush and very round middle weight plus flavors possess a seductive texture before concluding in a delicious, persistent and ever-so-mildly sweet finale. This relatively full-bodied effort should drink well young.
See detailed press reviewThe 2017 Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes Blanc (Domaine Gagey) is showing well, bursting with dramatic aromas of waxy lemon rind, honeycomb and petrol, framed by smoky new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and gourmand, with juicy acids and a saline finish. This will drink well out of the gates.
See detailed press reviewThe 2017 Beaune Bressandes Blanc 1er Cru has a fresh, slightly granitic bouquet that opens nicely in the glass, a discreet petrol-like scent loitering in the background. The harmonious palate is well balanced with crisp acidity and a saline finish that urges you back for another sip. I can see this showing well once in bottle, but it will probably need two or three years before it reaches its drinking plateau.
See detailed press reviewMore prominent wood treatment includes a hint of menthol on the pear compote, acacia blossom and muscat scents. The very rich, opulent and palate drenching medium weight flavors display just a touch of backend warmth on the mildly woody and bitter lemon-suffused finish.
See detailed press reviewThe 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes Blanc (Domaine Gagey), from a parcel at the top of the slope just below Faiveley's Clos de l'Écu, is another notable success this year. Mingling aromas of citrus zest and clear honey with hints of hazelnuts and fresh pastry, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with a chiseled profile and a long, mineral finish
