About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. William Kelley, January 2019 (Vintage 2017)

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes (Domaine Gagey) opens in the glass with a youthfully reticent bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, licorice and spices. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and nicely concentrated, with good depth at the core underpinned by juicy acids and fine, chalky tannin. This is typically one of the finest premiers crus in the Jadot range, and this year's rendition is no exception.

Neal Martin, January 2018 (Vintage 2017)

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 1er Cru has an airy, well-defined, transparent bouquet that is more feminine and refined than the Les Sentiers. The palate of sappy red fruit is medium-bodied and harmonious, offering fine acidity and ample red currant and cranberry fruit toward the finish. This is one of the best Premier Crus that I tasted from Jadot this vintage.

Neal Martin, November 2019 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 1er Cru is much more backward compared to the Feusselottes, touches of pencil box and loam infusing the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy, quite sweet and pastille-like on the finish that just misses the backbone of other Premier Crus. Hence, probably more for early drinking.
