About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. Product notes

The vineyard is located on the southern part of the town, towards Morey Saint Denis, just below the Chambertin Grand Cru, and against the Mazoyères (which can also claim Charmes). The soils are calcareous with a good distribution of clayey marls.

Production notes

The harvest is manual, carefully sorted by hand and then destemmed. The aging lasts about 18 months in the barrels of our cooperage, of which about a third are new.

Tasting notes

Beautiful dark ruby color with a rich aromatic palette of red berries, spices and flowers on the nose. It is an opulent and elegant wine with silky tannins. Prime rib and country terrine pairings.

Wine Advocate

91-93

William Kelley, January 2022 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru (Maison Louis Jadot) has turned out nicely this year, bursting with aromas of orange rind, sweet berry fruit, petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and perfumed, it's ample and generous, concluding with a youthfully chewy finish.

Neal Martin, December 2021 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very seductive, quintessential nose with plush blueberry and black cherry fruit, well defined, sumptuous in style. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine acidity, dense and grippy with an almost Mazis-like structure on the finish. Excellent, but it will require time in bottle.
