About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. Product notes

Ladoix is one of the villages in the north of the Côte de Beaune. It is located northeast of the village of Aloxe Corton, at the foot of the mountain of Corton. At an altitude staged between 220 and 360 meters, it benefits from an East / South East exposure. The soils are limestone-marly, slightly clayey for the white vines.

Production notes

The harvest is manual in petty cash in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then gently pressed then fermented in our cooperage barrels, one third of which are new. Aging lasts about 15 months on fine lees before preparation for bottling.

Tasting notes

Rich and racy, offering a blend of orchard fruits accented with white flowers and a touch of spice. Complex, lively and long mineral. Superb bottle Pairings with salmon tartare, vegetable tians and goat cheese.

William Kelley, January 2021 (Vintage 2019)

One of the finest values in the range is the 2019 Ladoix Le Clou d'Orge (Domaine Gagey), a bright and chiseled wine that evokes pear, waxy citrus peel, struck match and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, layered and incisive, it concludes with a saline, mouthwatering finish.

The 2021 Ladoix Le Clou d'Orge (Domaine Gagey) is a wine that will delight readers who prize cut and tension in white Burgundy. Exhibiting aromas of crisp green apple, citrus zest and wet stones, it's medium to full-bodied, with racy acids and an incisive, tightly wound palate, concluding with a long, chalky finish.

Cask sample. Sweet start and just a little bit of savoury character on the end. Quite delicate with a floral note. Presumably in a year as short of white wine as 2021 people will make a beeline for these lesser-known appellations.

Allen Meadows, June 2021 (Vintage 2019)

Admirably subtle wood sets off the spicy and ripe aromas of white peach, lemon rind and a hint of clove. There is fine volume to the intensely lemony middle weight flavors that are borderline sour though I suspect that once the sulfur is adjusted that will eventually dissipate and my projected range offers the benefit of the doubt.
