About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. By developing the wine trade in the markets of northern Europe, he was already contributing to the reputation of Burgundy wines at the time. Product notes

The Montrachet Grand Cru is undoubtedly one of the most glorious representatives of this Côte des Blancs. This Grand Cru is located immediately below the famous Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru. The soils are clay-limestone, rich in pebbles, well drained, easy to heat up.

Production notes

Aging lasts about 15 months on fine lees in barrels from our cooperage, one third of which are new.

Tasting notes

Aromas of toast, honeyed peaches, white flowers and mint introduce this great wine. A full-bodied, enveloping, satiny and sumptuous wine, with good acidity and good depth. Pairings with truffles, lobster and scallops

Allen Meadows, June 2022 (Vintage 2020)

This is one of the few wines in the range that displayed any appreciable reduction and here it's enough to mask the nuance of what is clearly ripe fruit. On the palate there is seriously good volume and even better density to the powerful and tautly muscular imposingly scaled flavors that also coat the mouth with dry extract on the markedly dry and hugely long finale. This is also very much built for the longer-term yet it's not so structured that it couldn't be approached after 8 to 10 years of keeping.

Neal Martin, December 2021 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Montrachet Grand Cru has a slight reduction on the nose but there is real intensity here with mineral-driven citrus fruit, flint, light earthy scents and a touch of wild mint. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and vibrant, lightly spiced with satisfying weight on the finish. Not the best Montrachet that I have ever tasted from Jadot, but certainly this has a lot of potential. Closure: Diam

William Kelley, January 2022 (Vintage 2020)

Rich and dramatic, the 2020 Montrachet Grand Cru (Maison Louis Jadot) bursts with aromas of peach and pear mingled with orange oil, beeswax, spices and toasted bread. Full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, it's textural and enveloping, with a layered mid-palate that's girdled by tangy acids, concluding with an expansive, saline finish.
