About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. Product notes

The soils are mainly composed of limestone and marl, and their perfect exposure to the East allows the production of superb wines.

Production notes

The harvest is manual in petty cash in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then carefully sorted by hand and then destemmed. The maceration of the grapes takes place in open wooden or stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. The vats are punched twice a day during fermentation. The aging lasts about 18 months in the barrels of our cooperage, of which about a third are new.

Tasting notes

Deep ruby red. Aromas of red fruits and spicy notes as well as hints of toast and cocoa. A good structure based on complex aromas with a brilliant harmonious finish with round tannins, which give the wine its solid body. Pairings with red tuna, tataki beef and veal chop.

William Kelley, January 2021 (Vintage 2019)

Based on domaine fruit from Jadot's holdings in lieu-dit Les Charmois, the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Village (Maison Louis Jadot) reveals aromas of plums, raw cocoa, licorice and loamy soil. Medium-bodied, with tangy acids and rather chewy tannins, it will demand a little bottle age.

Neal Martin, December 2020 (Vintage 2019)

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Village is one of the better Village Crus from Jadot this year, delivering well-defined, generous wild strawberry and light black currant scents on the nose, tinged with sous-bois. The palate is nicely balanced with sappy black fruit, a little peppery in style, and a straightforward but nicely focused finish. Drink over the next 6–8 years.

Notes of cassis, plums, spices and sweet soil tones introduce the 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges Village (Maison Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, lively wine with a fleshy core of fruit and powdery structuring tannins that assert themselves on the gently grippy finish.
