Product notes

The 1er Cru vineyard of this commune extends over the upper half of the Puligny hillside, from Meursault to Chassagne with chalky soil. La Garenne comes from the medieval Latin Warenna, a term designating a wood surrounded by walls or hedges reserved for the lord for the reproduction and hunting of small game and more specifically rabbits.

Production notes

Aging lasts about 15 months on fine lees before preparation for bottling.

Tasting notes

Floral aromas tinged with lemon cream and hay with a light toasty touch. The texture is expansive, silky and elegant with a subtle acidity that enhances the very long finish. Pairings with veal chops and cheeses

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne 1er Cru has a fresh and vibrant bouquet, a clear step up from the Village Cru, with fresh lemon verbena, lime and crushed stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine bead of acidity, nicely integrated oak though it is quite vocal on the finish, so afford this 4-5 years in bottle. Closure: Diam

The palate is fresh and spicy on the entry, offering orange peel and tangerine, a twist of sour lemon on the entry, good weight and a slightly waxy-textured finish that lingers in the mouth.
