About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. Product notes

Savigny les Beaune is a wine-growing village par excellence, to the north and adjacent to Beaune. The vineyard has a South/South-East, East and North-East exposure. It is located between 220 and 360 m above sea level. The calcareous soils are gravelly or stony, light and not very fertile.

Production notes

The harvest is manual in petty cash. The grapes are then gently pressed then fermented in our cooperage barrels, one third of which are new. The aging lasts about 15 months on fine lees.

Tasting notes

Elegant wine with aromas of white fruit, apple, white flowers and a hint of spice. The taste is balanced by both richness and fresh acidity. Pairings with fish and chips, sushi, vegetable fritters and goat cheese.

James Suckling, August 2021 (Vintage 2019)

So much white-peach, pear and some floral notes, complemented by just a hint of oak. At once generous, but rather sleek, this is very polished for this appellation, with a mineral finish that’s very refreshing. Drink or hold.

James Suckling, September 2022 (Vintage 2020)

A firmly structured wine for this appellation, with the energy and freshness we expect from Savigny-Les-Beaune, Delicate citrus aromas and positive spice. Crisp minerality and acidity driving the long, precise finish. From a south-facing vineyard, but at high altitude. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

James Suckling, August 203 (Vintage 2021)

For a cool vintage white Savigny this has good substance and creaminess together with a lively, but well-integrated acidity. As it aerates generous pear and candied citrus peel aromas develop. The finish is crisp and already quite nutty with some wet stone character. Drink or hold.

William Kelley, January 2021 (Vintage 2019)

The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Guettes Blanc (Domaine Gagey) mingles notes of pear and peach with hints of white flowers and almond paste in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy, it's round and enveloping, with a generous, charming profile this year.

Neal Martin, January 2020 (Vintage 2018)

From 1.5 hectares split over two parcels, one on the plateau and one mid-slope, the 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune Clos des Guettes 1er Cru has a very expressive bouquet of apple blossom, sliced pears and subtle rosewater aromas that seem very seductive. The fresh palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity. Orange pith and pink grapefruit notes emerge toward the lively finish. This is an excellent Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc.

Tom Parker, November 2019 (Vintage 2018)

Broad and ripe on the nose, there are layers of ripe peach and a hint of pineapple. Nutty and unctuous on the palate, this is oily, full bodied and quite heady, finishing with peach and passion fruit.

Allen Meadows, June 2023 (Vintage 2021)

Once again there is subtle but not imperceptible wood present on the riper aromas of pear liqueur and a pretty range of floral elements. There is both excellent richness and volume to the generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors that offer both better depth and persistence as well as better balance. While this should amply repay 5 to 8 years of aging, it could also be approached after only 3-ish years.

Neal Martin, December 2020 (Vintage 2019)

The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Clos des Guettes Blanc 1er Cru has a more delineated and mineral-driven bouquet compared with the Haut Jarrons this year. The palate is very well balanced with a peachy opening, a fine bead of acidity and a touch of lemongrass spicing things up toward the finish. Enjoy this over the next decade.

The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Guettes Blanc (Domaine Gagey) reveals aromas of waxy lemon, pear and vanilla pod, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate that's bright and seamless. This is promising.
