Product notes

Poggiotondo has been certified organic since the 2014 vintage, after 3 years of conversion.

Production notes

Fruit was fermented with indigenous yeasts. The wine then went through a bladder press before ageing in cement and large untoasted oak casks. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally. The grapes were destemmed and gently crushed then fermented in concrete tanks just with their native yeasts, after two weeks they were pressed and the wine went into large casks and concrete tanks.

Tasting notes

Deep garnet red. On the nose, dried oregano aromas are entwined with dark and red cherries. Ripe cherries on the palate are balanced with grainy tannins so typical of traditional Chianti, with a vibrant, fresh acidity on the finish. Pairings with meat gnocchi, carpaccio and an osso bucco.

James Button, January 2021 (Vintage 2018)

Certified organic since the 2014 vintage, this Chianti is aged in a combination of oak and concrete tanks. It has a concentrated if fairly simplistic character, with wild spicy notes joined by cherry and bright raspberry on the lightly tannic palate, finishing with woody notes from the oak.
