Soil of marine origin, limestone with a strong presence of white shells which give mineralogy and energy to the wines. Due to the proximity to the Mediterranean, the western part of the Chianti region enjoys a milder climate which results in a good balance of wines. Poggiotondo has been certified organic since the 2014 vintage, after 3 years of conversion.
The grapes enter oak and concrete fermenters and the malolactic fermentation takes place naturally. The Riserva is aged for about 20 months in unroasted 54 HL oak barrels.
