Allen Meadows, October 2018
La Chablisienne
Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2017
Once again the oak regimen is subtle but not invisible as it frames the lightly exotic aromas of orange peel, lychee and pear compote. The exceptionally rich and succulent middle weight plus flavors coat the palate with sap while exhibiting fine depth and length on the balanced finish where the wood resurfaces. This should drink well young but have no problems aging over the mid-term.
About Burghound.com
Burghound.com is the result of a nearly lifelong passion for the wines of Burgundy. For more than 30 years, I have been collecting the wines and visiting the region. Each year I spend nearly five months visiting, researching, tasting, exploring and evaluating. Burgundy is my obsession really. Expanding on my coverage of the coveted pinot noir grape, each issue provides continuous coverage of both Oregon and California pinot noir, with rotating coverage of Champagne and occasional special reports from other pinot producing regions.
