Allen Meadows, October 2018
Château de Chamirey
Mercurey 1er Cru En Sazenay 2017
Sweet spot OutstandingA pungent nose of reduction and wood leads to full-bodied, concentrated and powerful flavors that possess a seductive mid-palate that contrasts considerably with the muscular, serious and very firmly structured finale. This mildly rustic effort is already nicely complex though it's clear that the tannins are going to require at least a decade to resolve, perhaps even a bit more.
About Burghound.com
Burghound.com is the result of a nearly lifelong passion for the wines of Burgundy. For more than 30 years, I have been collecting the wines and visiting the region. Each year I spend nearly five months visiting, researching, tasting, exploring and evaluating. Burgundy is my obsession really. Expanding on my coverage of the coveted pinot noir grape, each issue provides continuous coverage of both Oregon and California pinot noir, with rotating coverage of Champagne and occasional special reports from other pinot producing regions.
