Riesling Estate 2017

- 90 points -

Predominantly from the grand cru Schoenenbourg yet not from the best parts or the oldest vines, the 2017 Riesling Estate, which was bottled in spring 2018 but is being released only today, offers delicate, clear and coolish, slightly flinty fruit that represents the Keuper marl soils of the cru yet with some light sandy parts as well as the deeper, heavier parts at the bottom. Very elegant and refined on the palate, this is a linear and saline Riesling with stimulating salinity and grip. It has good intensity and length and well-dosed power, but perhaps it's a little rustic in its phenols. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2022.
