The estates exclusively distributed by Ambrosia are located in Margaux, Haut-Médoc, and Saint-Émilion. Like Ambrosia, they all belong to the same family group. The family's first estate is Château Lescalle, built in 1875 by Mr. Emmanuel Tessandier (Regent of the Bank of France in Bordeaux and Mayor of Macau from 1876 to 1880), which entered the family in 1930. Situated on the edge of the Haut-Médoc, right at the entrance to the Margaux appellation, Château Laronde-Desormes reveals an exceptional character that far transcends its "Bordeaux Supérieur" classification. Its philosophy is simple: the wine is made in the vineyard. High planting density naturally reduces the yield per vine, resulting in a more concentrated wine.
Once harvested, the grapes undergo rigorous sorting and complete destemming. Three pump-overs are performed daily to extract color, aromas, and tannic structure. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new.
An alluring bouquet of dark fruits (blackberry and blackcurrant) with a hint of spice, alongside ripe, generous tannins. Pairs well with poultry, flank steak, or veal medallions.
This producer with vines in the southern Médoc has made a rich, perfumed and dense wine. With its wood aging and 10% of Petit Verdot, it has structure as well as polished black fruits. Drink this wine from 2022.
