Production notes

The wine is aged for 12 months 100% in oak barrels, 50% of which are new barrels, then 2 months in vats.

Tasting notes

Intense and deep red color. Aromas of small red fruits, spicy and peppery notes. On the palate, the wine is coating and powerful. The tannins are velvety, leaving a fairly complex aromatic persistence on the finish. Pairing with red meats and pan-fried wild mushrooms

Charles Curtis, October 2022 (Vintage 2021)

This wine has a charming finesse, with a bright, lifted elegance on the initial attack. There is a bit of reduction (that should disappear with racking) and aromas of pomegranate, raspberry, and mint. The texture is silky and fine, and the tannins are very well-managed. The grapes come from 0.69 hectares planted in 1964, up-slope from premier cru Aux Perdrix. The grapes are partly destemmed and given a cold maceration before fermentation on native yeasts and ageing in cask.

Julia Harding, January 2023 (Vintage 2021)

Cask sample. Lightish crimson. Scented with tart dark-red fruits and a lovely savoury edge that brings a touch of Nuits pepperiness. Firm, pure; the tannins so fine that you barely notice them as they shape the fruit. Dry, mouth-watering and perfectly balanced. Needs time.
