About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. Product notes

This climate is made up of several plots and separates the Premiers Crus of the north from those of the south. Facing south-east, it rests on marly terrain where the soil is compact, hard and difficult to work.

Production notes

Destemmed and vinified in open vats for 4 weeks. Aged in oak barrels in our cellars for 18 months.

Tasting notes

Sustained cherry color with a nose that is both elegant and dense with a mixture of red fruits and lime blossom and cherry blossom with a slight smokiness. The mouth is elegant with thick and slightly marked tannins. Nice persistence and minerality on the finish. Pairings with white meats

Allen Meadows, April 2023 (Vintage 2021)

Moderate wood stops short of overshadowing the bright and fresh red pinot fruit and softly earth-infused aromas. The delicate yet juicy, caressing and suave medium weight flavors possess a lovely sense of underlying tension along with solid length on the mildly austere finale. This could use better depth but more should reasonably develop if allowed 5-ish years of keeping.

Wine Advocate
William Kelley, January 2023 (Vintage 2021)

Notes of sweet raspberries, cherries and rose petals introduce the 2021 Beaune 1er Cru Les Theurons (Domaine Gagey), a medium-bodied, ample and fleshy wine that's delicate and fine-boned this year.

Neal Martin, November 2022 (Vintage 2021)

The 2021 Beaune Les Theurons 1er Cru is fragrant on the nose with perfumed crushed strawberry and redcurrant scents. The oak is neatly integrated and becomes more floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant tartness on the entry. Showing fine weight here, it's cohesive with a Beaune.
