About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. Product notes

The Beaune vineyard, located between Savigny-les-Beaune to the north and Pommard to the south, is the largest in the Côte de Beaune. There are no Grands Crus in this commune, but 36 Premiers Crus. The Beaune vineyard is almost entirely located on steep slopes. Les Grèves is one of them. This generally red premier cru is located on the slopes of Mont Batois, facing Beaune, on light, sandy soil, hence its name. "Le Clos Blanc" was planted by Maison Jadot with Chardonnay in 1986.

Production notes

Aging lasts approximately 15 months on fine lees before preparation for bottling.

Tasting notes

Opulent and generous, it presents aromas of lemon, white flowers, and straw. This white is full-bodied with a long finish of candied citrus. Pairs well with creamy poultry and fish.

Cask sample. Pale ruby. Intense nose with real substance and a beginning, middle and end to the tasting experience. Attractive sweet start and savoury, mineral, very clean finish. Really successful

William Kelley, January 2024 (Vintage 2022)

The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Le Clos Blanc (Domaine Gagey) is one of the highlights of this year's range. Unfurling in the glass with notes of pear, confit citrus, toasted nuts and white flowers, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and suave, its elegantly textural attack segueing into a taut, racy palate, concluding with a saline finish.
