About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. Product notes

The “Cortons” are grands crus from the town of Aloxe Corton in the north of the Côte de Beaune. They are located on the famous “Rognon de Corton”. The Corton Charlemagne from Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot is produced on the “Pougets” climate, on 1.88 hectares.

Production notes

The harvest is manual in petty cash, the grapes are then pressed gently and then fermented in the barrels of our cooperage, a third of which are new. Aging lasts about 15 months on fine lees before preparation for bottling.

Tasting notes

The nose reveals woody, fruity and floral notes. The concentrated mouth offers a nice balance and an important aromatic persistence. Pairings with poultry in cream, sweetbreads and foie gras.

James Suckling, August 2020 (Vintage 2018)

A full, very dense white that is tightly structured and layered. Plenty of cooked apples, lemons and white pineapple with stone and mineral undertones. Compact and tight. Solid and powerful. Give it three to four years to open, but already fantastic.

Allen Meadows, October 2021 (Vintage 2018)

A ripe but fresh nose combines notes of green apple, citrus, white peach and soft floral wisps along with hints of mineral reduction and wood influence. The rich and solidly concentrated flavors possess a plush mid-palate mouthfeel thanks to the copious amount of dry extract that more than buffers the sappy, mineral-driven and tightly wound, indeed linear, finale. This youthfully austere and already beautifully complex effort is quite dry and is going to require at least 5 to 7 years of bottle age to unwind but I very much like the potential.
