About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. Product notes

Le Clos du Cromin is located in the heart of the village of Meursault. Oriented due east, and on a gentle slope, this locality takes its name from the Burgundian word "crot", which designates an old quarry, the Cromey quarry. It is a generous wine with an opulent palate and good length. The very close limestone slab allows it to preserve an intense liveliness.

Production notes

The harvest is manual in small crates in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then gently pressed and then fermented in the barrels of our cooperage, a third of which are new. Aging lasts about 15 months on fine lees before preparation for bottling.

Tasting notes

Perfumed nose, ripe, full of fruit which is confirmed in the mouth, a generous and supple texture and distinctive nuances of hazelnut and spices which extend into a persistent finish of great finesse. Pairings with creamed poultry, veal ribs and cheeses.

William Kelley, January 2020 (Vintage 2018)

Offering up aromas of pear, orange oil, honeycomb, peach and toasted nuts, the 2018 Meursault Clos du Cromin (Maison Louis Jadot) is medium to full-bodied, round and layered, with good underlying acidity. It's very typical of this site, near the village and rich in clay, which tends to produce a more textural, old-fashioned style of Meursault.

The 2020 Meursault Clos du Cromin has a pretty, pressed flower and resintinged bouquet, touches of lime and kiwi fruit developing in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with a saline finish. Fine. Closure: Diam
