Product notes

“Le Clos” is an east-facing plot, in one piece, located between the Domaine Ferret house and the Village church, with an area of 0.69 hectares. The 2020 vintage marks the arrival of the “1ers Crus” within the appellation.

Production notes

Fermentation and aging take place in barrels including 25% new barrels, 75% barrels of 1 to 3 wines for 10 months. Then the aging ends in stainless steel vats still with all of their lees for another 9 months.

Tasting notes

Crystalline color of pale yellow hue. The nose offers a floral and delicious aromatic bouquet of hawthorn and jasmine flowers with notes of pome fruits. The attack on the palate is lively with a tender texture revealing a beautiful acidity. A white wine with a tasty and persistent finish. Pairings with lobster and fish in sauce

May 2021 (Vintage 2020)

There is more toasty ripe apple to the nose than citrus; the wine is perhaps a bit heavily wooded, but holding it well. On the palate, there is substantial extract and length, but enough freshness to balance everything out. Formerly called Le Clos and located in the premier cru lieu-dit Les Perrières, this 0.64ha site in the village of Fuissé was baptised Le Clos de Jeanne in 2020. It has always been among Ferret's top sites, yielding a powerful and concentrated wine.

William Kelley, September 2022 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru Clos de Jeanne is how Ferret's "Le Clos" bottling has been rechristened, the conundrum being that this parcel falls within the new premier cru Les Perrières. While the label may have changed, the wine behind the label is as excellent as ever, exhibiting aromas of citrus oil, pear and crisp stone fruit mingled with notions of blanched almonds and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a fleshy core, lively acids and a precise, nutmeg-inflected finish, it's one of the most charming bottlings in the range
