Product notes

Savigny les Beaune is a wine-growing village par excellence, to the north and adjacent to Beaune. The vineyard has a South/South-East, East and North-East exposure. It is located between 220 and 360 m above sea level. The calcareous soils are gravelly or stony, light and not very fertile.

Production notes

The grapes are destemmed and vinified in open vats for 4 weeks. After devatting, the wines are barreled in oak barrels for 18 months.

Tasting notes

Elegant, powerful wine with aromas of red fruits (blackcurrant, cherries). Supple, discreetly tannic, its finish will be carried towards a fine structure. Pairings with grilled red meat

James Suckling, September 2022 (Vintage 2020)

The wonderful red-cherry fruit with hints of redcurrant and blackcurrant pulls you into this very expressive wine. For all the ripeness, the really striking thing about this is the great vitality, the way it leaps and bounds over your palate. The best kind of crispness at the long, clean finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Bruce Sanderson, May 2023 (Vintage 2020)

Sleek, open and expressive, this red reveals black cherry and blackberry fruit framed by accents of earth and spices. Ends with chalky tannins. Best from 2025 through 2038. 300 cases made, 150 cases imported.

William kelley, January 2022 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Guettes (Domaine Gagey) reveals aromas of orange rind, raspberries, cherries and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with lively acids and powdery tannin, it possesses plenty of potential.
