Product notes

Soil of 130 meters of altitude of marine origin, limestone with a strong presence of fossils and white shells which gives elegance and complexity to the wines. This half-hectare vineyard was planted in 1928 in Cerreto Guidi

Production notes

The selected grapes are placed in 16hl cement “tulips” at controlled temperature with gravity flow system with 50% whole bunches. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and once completed, the wine is left to macerate on the skins for a few days. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously. The wine is aged in untoasted 10hl barrels and then bottled without any clarification and aged in the bottle for a few months.

Tasting notes

Red garnet colour. Classic traditional aromas of Chianti with hints of violet, red berried fruit, cherry, raspberry, which also give space to spices, black pepper and cloves. Structured, pleasantly complex and elegant, with a nice backbone well defined by acidity and fine tannins, with an attractive finish due to its persistence. Pairings with BBQ and Osso Buoco

Julia Harding, January 2024 (Vintage 2019)

Light cherry red with bricky rim. So inviting, with aromas of both sweet and sour, vibrant red fruits. The tannins are extremely finely textured, like many layers of paper, the whole is mouth-watering and the fruit is full of life and really vibrant. Mouth-wateringly fresh, the tannins increasing the freshness. Extreme elegance and showing the hard-won balance of old vines. Long, too. Needs even more time to show itself more fully and for the still chewy tannins to meld further but they give the wine harmony and a framework for the fruit. Already delicious but will be even better in a few years.
