About this winery

In 2013, Resonance is Maison Louis Jadot's first wine project outside Burgundy since its founding in 1859. The project is led by renowned Jadot winemaker, Jacques Lardière, who draws on more than 40 years of experience in the hills. hilly countryside of Burgundy and applies it to one of the most exciting emerging Pinot Noir regions in the world. Product notes

Jory soils are basalt-based volcanic, rich in nutrients, clay and iron with a distinctive reddish color.

Production notes

Jacques Lardière and Guillaume Large, the winegrowers, together selected the five best barrels (2 new, 2 one-year-old and 1 two-year-old) from Découverte Vineyard in the Dundee Hills AVA. They come from Bloc Quatre, an old Pommard planted in 1996, and they were aged in French oak barrels (Cadus) for 19 months.

Tasting notes

Brilliant color for this wine, with an expressive nose of cherry, blackberry, wild mint, fresh liquorice and noble wood. Vibrant and energetic, the palate reveals a subtle balance and elegant floral notes. The finish is mineral, expressing the complexity of the Jory terroir. Pairings with Risotto with porcini mushrooms, red meats and cheeses.

December 2017 (Vintage 2015)

Effortlessly expressive and complex, with violet and cherry aromas and supple flavors accented by savory cinnamon and stony mineral. Drink now through 2023

Josh Raynolds, May 2020 (Vintage 2017)

Bright-rimmed ruby. Highly perfumed, mineral-tinged red berry, cherry cola and incense aromas are complemented by emerging floral and spice nuances. Chewy and concentrated on the palate, offering intense raspberry preserve, bitter cherry, spicecake and rose pastille flavors and a touch of vanilla on the back half. Finishes taut, spicy and impressively long, displaying sharp clarity and sneaky tannins that lend gentle grip. 30% new French oak.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Découverte Vineyard has a medium ruby color and scents of rhubarb, cranberries, forest floor and mushroom with touches of cinnamon stick, blackberries and black cherries. It’s medium-bodied, smoothly textured but firm, with great freshness to lift the dense finish. 500 cases produced.

Résonance purchased this site close to Domaine Drouhin and Domaine Serene in 2014. After clearing the property of blackberry vines, they discovered a natural amphitheater on classic Jory soils (the Résonance vineyard, purchased in 2013, is planted on basalt). Vines were planted in 1996 and more Pinot Noir and Chardonnay have just been planted. Pale to medium ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir Découverte Vineyard opens with inviting scents of raspberry jam, rhubarb and pomegranate with notes of warm earth and autumn leaves and a floral undercurrent. The palate is light to mediumbodied with youthfully shy fruits (this was bottled three to four months before I tasted it), with a soft frame and very juicy acidity, finishing restrained. 500 cases were made.
