Product notes

Palazzo della Torre is a signature wine of the entire Allegrini range, where all of Franco’s extensive experience meets his creative flair. Celebrated by the world’s most important wine magazines, Palazzo della Torre is one of the wines that has made Allegrini famous internationally.

Production notes

70% of the grapes are fermented in September (following a normal red wine fermentation with destemming), while the remaining 30% undergoes a gentle drying process. Those grapes are vinified in December and then the two resulting wines are wisely blended before the ageing that occurs for a minimum of 15 months in barriques. In January, the wine produced is blended with the pressed grapes of the withered grapes.

Tasting notes

Ruby red in colour with purplish hues, it initially reveals sophisticated notes of vanilla, black pepper and cloves, echoed by gentle nuances of raisined grapes. On the palate it is velvety, with soft tannins and a long and persistent finish.

James Suckling, (Vintage 2022)

An intense wine with multilayered fruit, showing sour cherries, blackberries, plums, vibrant black pepper and nicely integrated vanilla. Chewy on the palate. Crisp, long acidity and firm, chalky tannins are well balanced with the fruit in the medium-bodied, savory finish. Drink or hold.

Falstaff

(Vintage 2022)

Dark ruby red colour with a core. Strong berry notes, with vanilla, wood and dark chocolate. Black cherries develop with air. Full-bodied on the palate, with vivid tannins that are still somewhat green. Slightly astringent, medium length. Definite ageing potential.

Jeff Porter, January 2024 (Vintage 2021)

A whiff of this wine is like stumbling upon a hidden tobacco field, where the earthy, smoky scent of cured leaves intertwines with the aroma of ripe, roasted berries basking in the sun. The palate is a bold, balanced dance between rich, juicy fruit and savory undertones. Blackberries and cherries, define the core of the flavors found on the palate, as an earthy backbone keeps everything in check. Roasted or grilled dishes will shine with this partner.

Alison Napjus, December 2024 (Vintage 2021)

Creamed black cherry and black raspberry fruit is structured by chewy tannins and fresh acidity in this balanced red. Shows a subtle underpinning of sanguine iron and earth accents, with appealing details of dark chocolate shavings, dried mint and anise that linger on the finish. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Sangiovese. Drink now through 2029

Alain Lebel , (Vintage 2021)
