About this winery
In 1998, Closson Chase Vineyards was born. The first commercial vintage was harvested in 2004, produced in a century-old dairy barn originally owned by the Closson family and lovingly restored as the new winemaking facility. Since then, Closson Chase has been at the forefront of Prince Edward County's wine industry, producing award-winning Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Coming entirely from KJ Watson Vineyards in the Niagara River sub-appellation.
Production notes
Whole bunches cold macerated for two days, then destemmed and pressed. Fermentation in 100% stainless steel tanks for more than 14 days at 16°C. No malolactic fermentation.
Tasting notes
Floral notes, cooked strawberries and undergrowth open up in the glass. The palate is full and slightly creamy thanks to the contact with the lees, showing a nice balance between fruit, acid and earthy tones. Refreshing acidity cleanses the palate, ending with great continuity of flavor on the finish. Pairings with grilled vegetables and cold meats
