About this winery

For several generations, Domaine Laporte has held a pioneering position and has acquired a reputation for the quality of its wines. This notoriety is the fruit of the rigor, the determination and the know-how of the two passionate Sancerre families who have succeeded one another. Our property extends over 21 hectares in the heart of the appellation, planted with Sauvignon Blanc for the Sancerre blanc, and Pinot Noir for the Sancerre red and the Sancerre rosé. Each of our wines is vinified...

Product notes

Le Rochoy is a unique hillside in the Sancerrois. It was once a Gallo-Roman quarry called "Rochetum". The flint stones strewn on the ground accumulate heat during the day and release it at night. The subsoil, composed of flint, gives this cuvée all its minerality. The ripening of the grapes is rapid and gives an exceptional white Sancerre.

Production notes

Harvesting by hand preserves the grapes. A pneumatic press extracts the juices. The musts are then decanted thanks to the cold and the alcoholic fermentation takes place with the natural yeasts of the grapes at temperatures between 15°C and 18°C for 15 days. This makes it possible to preserve all the fruit aromas, and its very beautiful minerality.

Tasting notes

Pale yellow color with silver reflections. The wine is crystalline and clear. The nose expresses beautiful white flowers and very ripe yellow-fleshed fruits with a hint of angelica (small candied fruit). The palate presents a beautiful, very expressive and balanced freshness. The minerality of the flint stands out with a slight smokiness in the mouth. Le Rochoy develops superb fullness and astonishing generosity. Pairings with lobster, scallops and goat cheese.

james suckling, December 2023 (Vintage 2022)

Subtle aromas of lemon rind, herbs, stones and hints of cedar. Medium body with fresh acidity. It has volume and weight on the palate with a well-rounded core of green apples, herbs and dried lemons. Focused and vertical with a flinty developing finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold

Roger Voss, November 2021 (Vintage 2020)

Deliciously textured and densely flavored, this wine has white and citrus fruits that have a chalky, mineral edge from the flint soil. With its concentration and richness, the wine could age a little longer, so drink from 2022. Organic

Roger Voss, (Vintage 2021)

The wine is ripe, with yellow-fruit overtones. It has a full, generous character, rich apple and a touch of spice. This is a fine wine, densely textured and worth aging. Drink from 2024.

Reggie Solomon, October 2023 (Vintage 2022)

This reserved wine is grounded in just-ripened summer fruit. Filled with rich fruit aromas, the wine offers a nose of golden apple, Asian pear, lemon citrus and hints of fresh sage brush. It has moments of concentration on the midpalate, with attenuated orchard fruit

Stephan Reinhardt, June 2022 (Vintage 2021)

From a warm 10-hectare slope on flinty soils, the 2021 Sancerre Le Rochoy Terroir de Silex shows an excitingly coolish, pure, refined and flinty-mineral bouquet of bright fruits, limes, white blossoms (elderflowers), crushed flint stones and hints of white and yellow stone fruits, cassis and elderberries. Medium to full-bodied, this is a fresh and energetic, juicy, piquant and persistently salty, remarkably complex Sancerre with grip and ripe but vivacious mineral acidity and tension. Sancerre for purists! 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in May 2022.
