About this winery

Domaine Sigalas was founded in 1991 by Paris Sigalas, Christos Markozane and Yiannis Toundas. Initially, Sigalas made its wine in the converted family home of Sigalas. In 1998, a new winemaking, bottling and aging unit was built on a private estate in Oia, north of Santorini. Today, after constant investments in technology and modernization, current production allows the development and bottling of 350,000 bottles per year. Product notes

Located in Imerovigli, the Oia Santorini sub-region, the Assyrtiko de Sigalas (Kouloura) vines are on average 50 years old and are grown in soils of black lava, volcanic ash and pumice.

Production notes

Fermentation in stainless steel vats under controlled temperature. The wine is made from pressed Assyritiko juice and 100% Athiri drop juice. Cluster 50% complete.

Tasting notes

Pale yellow color with a citrus, tropical and floral nose. On the palate the aromas of citrus fruits, peach and mango stand out without forgetting saline and mineral notes. Pairings with fish, white meats and seafood.

Smart label – smarter than the most familiar Santorini wine of all, this producer’s Santorini Assyrtiko. A little ‘technical’ on the nose. Definitely not spontaneous fermentation! Competent but not thrilling.
