A wine from the estate was auctioned off by the famous Christie's house in 1872, an indication of the status that the name Romaneira had acquired over the years! Product notes

The entire Romaneira wine estate is rated 'A' (the highest score obtainable in the Douro) and focuses almost entirely on dry, unfortified wines and vintage-style port.

Production notes

The wine was vinified in conical stainless steel tanks, equipped with temperature control, at a temperature of 25 to 27ºC and using the pumping over technique. It also underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. 100% aged in seasoned 225 litre french oak barrels for a period of 11 months.

Tasting notes

Brilliant red color. The nose reveals aromas of ripe black fruits and floral notes. A very balanced and fresh red wine with a long and tasty finish without forgetting a mineral side. Pairings with meats on the BBQ, grilled calamari and cheeses.

Roger Voss, May 2021 (Vintage 2018)

This is one of a limited production range of single-variety wines. Produced from Syrah, the wine is richly perfumed and has an earthy edge that is typical of the grape when young. This wine therefore needs further aging.

Roger Voss, February 2019 (Vintage 2016)

The small amount of Syrah in an otherwise typical Douro blend gives this wine both its perfumed character and also its classification as a regional wine. The wine is firm, structured with plenty of minerality amid all the black fruits.

This medium-bodied red shows good focus and freshness to the ripe raspberry, currant and cherry fruit flavors, flanked by spice, mineral and dried herb details, with moderate, velvety tannins. Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Cão.
