About this winery

In 1884, the brothers António and Francisco Borges founded a company dedicated to banking, the sale of lottery tickets and tobacco. Then in 1891, they created the Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges, a company dedicated to the production and marketing of wine. In 1904, they bought the Quinta de Solaheira vineyard in the Douro river valley, laying the first foundations for what would define their true vocation. Product notes

The average age of the vines of 40 years is planted in schist soil and in terraces.

Production notes

After receiving the grapes at the cellar in excellent conditions, they are crushed and destemmed. The must from the pressed grapes is cooled to 8-12°C and then decanted. Following decantation, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place (12-14°C). Aging takes place in small barrels and wooden barrels.

Tasting notes

Golden yellow color. Intense aromas with notes of honey and cedar resin. Very voluminous in the mouth, it presents a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity. Pairings as an aperitif and cheeses
