About this winery

The history of Terre da Vino would take quite a chapter to describe, since the Company encompasses more than 5,000 hectares of vineyards cultivated by more than 2,500 producers! Founded in 1956 and formerly known as Terre di Barolo, this cooperative is located in Barolo, Italy, in the heart of the Langhe territory, one of the most famous wine regions in the world. Product notes

The grapes come from vineyards in the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, located between 330 and 410 meters above sea level. The soils are of marine sedimentary origin, dating back to the "Tertiary Basin of Piedmont", with the presence of sedimentary clay-limestone marls, alternating layers of marls and sand or sandstone.

Production notes

The wine then ages in oak barrels for up to 24 months.

Tasting notes

Garnet color opening towards an intense and complex bouquet of dried flowers, such as rose and violet, as well as vanilla and tobacco. The long, flavorful palate reveals ripe fruit and berries, as well as balsamic notes. Pairings with Truffle Risotto

James Suckling, May 2020 (Vintage 2016)

Dense and tight with chewy tannins, dried fruit and chocolate/hazelnut flavors. It’s full-bodied with wonderful richness and power at the end. Needs two to three years to come around. Better after 2023.

James Suckling, May 2022 (Vintage 2015)

This is really chewy and intense with dark fruit and dried mushrooms, such as porcini. It’s full-bodied with depth and intensity. Some flowers as well. Sweet, ripe fruit at the end. Very well done this year. Drink after 2022.

Kevin O'Keefe, December 2021 (Vintage 2015)

Violet, underbrush and cedar aromas shape the nose. Elegantly structured, the juicy palate offers cranberry jam, crushed mint and licorice alongside firm, polished tannins.

Walter Speller, July 2022 (Vintage 2016)

Serralunga d'Alba. Mid to deep ruby with orange tinges. Deep, savoury, ripe red-fruit nose with meaty and peppery notes and hints of old leather. Rather captivating and just opening up. Compact red-fruit palate with lots of lush acidity followed by bags and bags of chewy tannins. Lots of juice but still rather austere and tannic on the finish. A little rustic but further bottle age no doubt will give it a bit of a polish. (WS)
