Quinta da Romaneira - Douro Reserva - 2018

Quinta da Romaneira

Douro Reserva 2018

Deep, dark cherry colour, like black-cherry skins, with purple rim. Smoky, dusty, Douro-like character infusing the black fruit. A touch of smoky reduction, perhaps. It is marked by the oak at the moment but the tannins are super-fine. The charry savour doesn’t overpower the fruit but this needs patience. Embryonic elegance enhanced by a slight herbal freshness on the finish, even though it is fully ripe – as if there had been a small whole-bunch component. Very good balance suggests an ageworthy wine. (JH)
