Product notes
The hill of La Grola is located in the municipality of Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella. It benefits from unique geoclimatic and pedoclimatic conditions and enjoys an exceptional microclimate. Facing southeast, it enjoys excellent exposure and is sheltered to the north by Monte Pastello. It also benefits from the calming influence of Lake Garda and the constant breezes from Monte Baldo and the Adige Valley. Its altitude varies from 270 to 320 meters.
Production notes
The grapes are hand-harvested in the vineyard after rigorous selection, during the second half of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a temperature between 20 and 25°C. The process lasts 15 days and uses gentle extraction techniques. The wine is aged for 16 months: 50% in second-use barrels and the remaining 50% in large 85-hectoliter casks. It then undergoes a further 10 months of bottle aging before release.
Tasting notes
This wine expresses a strong personality, thanks to its tannic structure, balanced by refreshing acidity and ripe fruit aromas. Its complex bouquet of blackberries, cherries, and violets gives way to notes of vanilla, tobacco, and dark chocolate. The tannins, present but still mature, offer a velvety palate and a long finish of red and black fruit. Pairs well with braised dishes and BBQ meats.
