About this winery
Located in Gaiole in Chianti, in the heart of Tuscany, Castello di Brolio is the historic cradle of the Ricasoli family, active in viticulture since 1141, making it Italy's oldest winery. The visionary Bettino Ricasoli was behind the original Chianti Classico formula, created in 1872. Since 1993, Francesco Ricasoli has been at the helm of the estate with passion, breathing new life into it through an approach combining respect for tradition, technical innovation and a scientific approach....

Product notes
Soil, well-drained, yet fresh, alluvial soil at an altitude of 200 meters, which gives the grapes good acidity even at full maturity. Exposure: South
Production notes
The grapes for Vin Santo are harvested late, when the sugar content is high enough to withstand the wine's long aging process. The bunches are hung and partially dried for several months. The must, obtained by gentle crushing, ferments slowly before being placed in 225-liter oak half-barrels. The grapes were hand-picked on September 29th. Aged for nine years in oak barrels (caratelli).
Tasting notes
Amber yellow color. Floral notes of honey, dates, and dried fruits on the nose. The palate is soft, enveloping, and warm. A long finish with a return of the olfactory sensations. Pairs well with foie gras, cheese, and dessert.
