About this winery

Founded in 1879 by the brothers Eusebio and Raimundo Real de Asua, the Compañia Vinicola del Norte de España is one of the oldest estates in La Rioja. C.V.N.E. is located in Haro, in the traditional wine trade district, next to the train station. In this period when transport was not very advanced, there was a definite advantage in locating your cellar very close to a train station! By 1900, this company had more than 80,000 bottles intended for prolonged aging, which was rare at that time...

Luis Gutiérrez, July 2026 (Vintage 2023)

The 2023 Crianza was produced with grapes from Villalba de Duero. It fermented with selected yeasts in stainless steel and matured in barrique for 12 months. It comes in at 14.3% alcohol, with a pH of 3.66 and 5.2 grams of acidity. The 2023s are darker and riper in general, with more fruit and a more exuberant profile, but they still keep the balance and poise. The wine is juicy and has abundant, slightly dusty tannins, which aren't helped by the fact that, to achieve the Crianza back label, the wine is required to age in 225-liter barrels-if they use larger barrels, the wine doesn't qualify. Still, it's a step above the 2022. 50,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2025.
