About this winery

André-Michel Pierlot moved to Tours-sur-Marne in 1812 as a Champagne wine merchant. It was in the village, on the plots called Les Plaisances and La Tour Glorieux that he founded what would become Maison Laurent-Perrier. His son Alphonse will succeed him, but the latter having no descendants, he will pass the estate on to his cellar master Eugène Laurent. When Eugène Laurent died prematurely in 1887, his widow, Mathilde Émilie Perrier took over the reins of the company and added his...

Product notes

Grand Siècle is a Cuvée de Prestige unlike any other, a unique concept based on blending, not the vintage, to recreate the perfect winemaking year. For the second time in the Maison's history, Laurent-Perrier is pleased to unveil Grand Siècle "Les Réserves" through Iteration No. 20, aged for over 20 years in our cellars.

Production notes

Blend of the years 1999 (60%), 1997 (20%), 1996 (20%)

Tasting notes

A deep, intense color dominated by shades of gold and platinum. Very delicate bubbles provide exceptional firmness and lightness. A nose of rare complexity, combining three families of aromas: primary, secondary, and tertiary, delivering notes of candied lemon, roasted notes, and a hint of cappuccino and roasted coffee. After a few minutes, spicy and pastries notes are revealed, accentuating the aromatic richness. Pair with oysters, lobster, truffles, and fish.

James Suckling, June 2022

This is a beautifully complex wine. Flinty, even smoky on the nose, with preserved lemon, quince, smoked almond, sea urchin, olive and white pepper, as well as some mushroom, pie crust and salted caramel. Energetic, yet with a dense and oily palate. Lots of power. Sleek bubbles. So many layers to ponder over, with a long, umami finish. It’s Montrachet in nature and greatness. Love the roundness to the texture. Unique. 54% chardonnay and 46% pinot noir. Blend of 1999, 1997, 1996. 21 years on the lees. 7g/L dosage. Will be released September 2022. Only a few 100 magnums. Drink on release or hold.

Alison Napjus, November 2024

The fragrant hints of lemon oil, chamomile and canelé on the nose are a forerunner to the complex panoply of flavors on the satiny palate, with dried cherry, macerated raspberry, orange curd and pastry cream, plus a touch of white truffle. Rich and layered, yet retains a sense of graceful poise driven by the chiseled spine of acidity and underlying minerality. Smoke and oyster shell notes linger on the long, plush finish. A blend of the 1996, 1997 and 1999 vintages aged on the lees for more than 20 years. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

William Kelley, October 2022

A blend of the 1999 (60%), 1997 (20%) and 1996 (20%) vintages, the NV Brut Grand Siècle Les Réserves #20 is the latest wine to be released in Laurent-Perrier's magnum-only late disgorgement program. Wafting from the glass with complex aromas of confit citrus, toasted nuts, tangerine, clear honey, iodine, buttery pastry and espresso, it's medium to full-bodied, pillowy and incisive, with a deep, complete core of fruit, racy acids and a long, saline finish. The rich, gourmand 1999 base vintage is lent cut and structure by 1997 and 1996 to deliver a Champagne that is clearly more than the sum of its parts.
