Production notes

Picked and sorted by hand, then mainly de-stemmed, the grapes macerate slowly over the course of three or four weeks. Indigenous yeasts are used throughout the fermentation period, and extraction by means of both plunging and pumping over takes place on a regular basis. The wines are aged in our historic cellar for 10 months, a period spent in oak barrels, both old and new. The oak used to make the barrels comes from the forests of Alliers, the Limousin and the Nivernais.

Tasting notes

This very elegant wine is both powerful and incredibly long. Its great complexity allows it to partner a wide range of delicate dishes.

Roger Vous, April 2020

Powerfully rich, this wine has immense tannins as well as dense, dark fruits. It is balanced, showing intense juiciness as well as a strong mineral texture. The wine needs to soften and open up, so drink from 2022.

Richard Lemming, June 2022 (Vintage 2017)

Baked black fruit, granitic flavour, with more reflection of its terroir than their 2015 Fleurie (which was a bit confected for me). Lots of structure that keeps the high alcohol in check. Perhaps not the typical expectation of beaujolais, but this is balanced and delicious and valid as a wine in its own right.
