About this winery
The culture of the vine has been practiced in Alsace for more than 2000 years. We find traces of the first Hugels in Alsace as early as the 15th century, and some two centuries later, Hans Ulrich Hugel settled in Riquewihr in 1639 and took the head of the powerful Corporation des Vignerons. Product notes
This wine is partly sourced from two young plots on the estate, one of which, on the Schoenenbourg vineyard, is planted with Muscat d'Alsace. The harvest is exclusively manual from the outset to guarantee perfectly healthy grapes and good natural acidity.
Production notes
The grapes are destemmed and placed in presses, where they macerate until the following morning. After pressing, the must is settled for a few hours, then fermented in temperature-controlled tanks (between 18 and 24°C). The wine is racked only once, before its natural clarification during the winter. The following spring, it is lightly filtered just before bottling, and then the bottles age in our cellars until they are released for sale. All bottles of this wine are sealed with DIAM corks, thus guaranteeing the absence of cork taint.
Tasting notes
A pleasing, youthful, and sparkling wine. Remarkably clear, it displays a beautiful, crystalline effervescence enhanced by fresh and vibrant pastel green highlights. Its aroma, expressive without being overpowering, is elegantly fruity and youthful. On the palate, this dry Muscat is thirst-quenching, full-bodied, fresh, harmonious, and flavorful, with a delicate and subtle finish, characteristic of the Muscat grape. Pairs well with goat cheese, asparagus, and smoked fish.
