About this winery

Born on the eve of the Mexican Revolution and named in honor of Doroteo Arango, the famous Mexican revolutionary, Los Arango tequila is crafted using traditional methods in the state of Guanajuato. Los Arango tequila is inspired by the principle of doing what is right rather than what is popular, and is made to celebrate life's victories and pay homage to the revolutionary spirit that lies dormant within each of us. Product notes

The hacienda where we produce our tequila, originally built in 1700, is located just outside Penjamo, Mexico. It is surrounded by endless rows of Weber blue agave and the Sabino tree, the native tree that gave the city its name. Each batch is bottled in glass hand-blown on-site and finished by hand, resulting in a unique tequila bottle that reflects its terroir and its era.

Production notes

Los Arango tequila is made exclusively from Weber blue agave, an heirloom variety harvested after 8 to 12 years of growth in Guanajuato, Mexico. After 38 hours of slow cooking in clay ovens, followed by 12 hours of resting, our tequila ferments using a special, in-house developed yeast strain. We then employ the traditional Charentais double distillation method to produce each small batch of Los Arango tequila using time-honored techniques.

Tasting notes

Aged in small batches in American oak barrels, our reposado tequila demonstrates how the aromas of oak aging can enhance the smooth notes of agave. Perfect to enjoy neat or to mix in handcrafted cocktails.

Kara Newman , January 2009

Displays pleasant green vegetable (asparagus, kale) aromas right upfront along with a background agave brininess; further air contact stimulates a creaminess that's oily and sinewy. Palate entry is long, satiny, with vibrant tastes of chili pepper, salt and steamed asparagus; midpalate is full-weighted, juicy, sweet, toffee-like and oily.
